Submission - The Backbone of Back Linking
Many businesses are familiar with the
importance of gaining popularity on the three most popular search
engines-Google, Yahoo and Bing. Simply put, aiming for a high rank on these
search engines will bring your website a steady flow of traffic which in turn
can be converted into customers. The top ranking websites on a particular
search term or key phrase in most cases get the most business. How do you go
about climbing to the top of these search engines? Back linking.
What is back
linking?
Back links are basically the links
that you get when other websites link to your page. They are one of the major
factors that search engine bots look for when determining how to rank your
website. There are many ways to accomplish this such as sharing your posts on
social media sites like Facebook and Twitter and submitting articles to
directories. When websites link
back to your site, it is as if they are voting for your website.
In order to carry out a successful
back linking campaign, there are four major components or factors to consider.
1. Link Popularity. This can be gained by having multiple
websites link to yours. Search engine algorithms in effect will interpret such
a scenario as meaning your website is popular and therefore of high quality.
2. Link Reputation. This
refers to the relevance or reputation of the websites that link back to you.
These sites must be relevant to yours and have authority of their own to be
considered a ‘good vote’. Links from unrelated, low quality sites will have the
opposite effect
3. Anchor Text. The words
that are hyperlinked and clickable basically tell the search engines what to
expect on the website linked.
4. Google page rank. This is the
rank that is an important measurement used by Google to measure importance.
Back links from PR sites are usually authorative and popular.
Back linking
and Article Submission
One of and probably the most
effective way to get back links is through article submission. Why is this so?
Let’s consider the four major components of back linking in relation to article
submission.
First, link popularity. When you
submit articles to popular directories such as Ezine that have a wide audience,
your article will be read by many.
If they like what they read, they will have the chance to share, repost
and even Facebook or Twitter your article.
Second, link reputation. Article
directories only allow you to submit articles to specific categories closely
related to your niche. As a result, the back links you gain from here will most
likely be relevant.
Third, anchor text. In the
resource box, directories allow you to give a short bio about yourself and
include a link to your site. You will therefore have the opportunity to do some
research and use anchor links that you are targeting.
Fourth, page rank. As long as you select the right article directories
to submit to, you will be assured to get high quality links from the
directories. For example, Ezine
and Goarticles both have a PR of 6. These websites are highly respected by
Google and other search engines and back links from them are very valuable.
Although article submission is indeed
a valuable strategy in gaining back links, the degree of efficacy it will have
will depend mostly on the quality of your articles. The key is to make them
informative, interesting and engaging-something people will want to share with
others. Do this and your back links will multiply, and so will your website traffic.
